    1948 was the first year with the serial # starting with the letter E, 49 F, 50 G, 51 H, I wasn't used, 52 J There are reports a few made into 53 and 54 out of spare parts.

looks like the but stock has been changed to a newer style, otherwise that is one very nice deer killer.

I own one very similar to yours that was passed down to me after the death of my Uncle Larry. He hunted in Ontario with this rifle for moose and black bears. He also hunted in New Newfoundland for caribou and bears. Every animal he shot with this 35 was downed quickly. That's a testimony to the lethal killing power of a heavy bullet at moderate velocity striking the chest organs from reasonable distances. I've toppled a few wild hogs with this rifle and had no problems at all. 35 Remington rifles are keepers!

It's always nice to see a waffle free of holes.

Great rifle, nice clean receiver top.
How folks can drill into a Waffletop, I've not a clue.

Oh boy...ya'll are gonna hate on me. Searched out a first year '50 336A .35 in really nice shape. Immediately shortened the the stock, scoped it, chopped and threaded the barrel at 16.25" and added a QD mount for suppressor. 200 grains that sounds like a pellet gun!

Always remember it's your Marlin to do as you please. I prefer a peep sight and the rest pure Marlin.
