I started shooting the Hornady LE's in my 35 a few years ago. They are pointed and 200 grain and have been effective on deer. Kind of got into them when there was a shortage of 35R on the shelves. Hornady came out with the LE's first after the shortage. At that time I was shooting factories to build up a case inventory. I like the old 35 but don't shoot it a lot. It has gone 5 shots for 5 deer for me since I got it, 4 using the LE's. I have a 357 Mag for lighter loads. I have a good inventory of Hornady ammo and could now reload if needed. Darn cheap scope I put on it stays zeroed so I have not needed to sight it in again. The 357 has peep sights and works for tractor use, the Marlin 35R for deer. Haven't shot anything the round nose would not have worked on.

Here is a pic of my 1940 Rem Mod 141 in 35 Rem. The previous owner(s) kept it in very good shape. I will be taking it out for an accuracy test next week at the LGS range.

Very Nice RE. I hunted with a fella that used a 141. I was a teen back in the late 70's and was standing right beside him when he shot a buck at 135 yrds with iron sights.
    Nice rifles!
Thanks dad for taking me hunting.

Great story! Wish I had the eyes to do that kind of hunting with the irons!

RE how about posting a pic of 141 close up of reciever sight. I can't find anything I like. In not crazy about tangs for jump shooting but on 14-141& Sav 99 I can squeeze by with them. I can't do it with behind the hammer tangs on levers. They interrupt with the flow of things for me. The 141 is one of the few I can still shoot irons on deer at under 100yds. The back sight is far enough away from my eye, others back sight is a blur.

I will post a close-up of the Lyman 66 tonight when I get back home. I am guessing that the Mod 141 didn't have holes D&Ted on the receiver from the factory. Somebody did a good job of mounting these peeps on the rifle.

I'm old and cranky and have a couple dozen old rifles that I would never D&T. The 141 being my main woods deer gun I would D&T it. I should have done it years ago. It has a recoil pad on it but stock is not cut and I have original butt plate and screws. I never got around to switching them out because it fits me the way it is. When I get involved in driving I carry my Maurader 30/30 with Lyman
66 sight. I swear when shooting deer at close range you can not only hear the difference of impact between 30/30 & 35 but you can see it in deers reaction to being hit. I've never had problems killing deer with 30/30 but it seems 35 uproots them.
