    Marlin 336 Cowboy Value

Hi all, new here but thought I would register because this seemed to be the place to ask my question. I've got a 336 Cowboy in 30-30 and have come hear to ask what the value of this gun may be. I've read anywhere from $850 to $1500 depending on condition and demand; of course they are not made any longer. Mine is in pretty good shape, near mint with one small scratch on it that may or may not go through the bluing; I've had it put up awhile and haven't looked at it in awhile. It's stock, no modifications, got the original sights, have a set of skinner sights ready to be installed, of course the Cowboy octagon barrel. Any idea what this gun is worth ? Thanks all.

    Welcome from Alabama...

If you want a good valuation, you are going to have to post a full set pf pics... And what are the first 2 digits of the serial number...

What Scorbius said. Welcome to MO from MI. We always like pictures even when not offering estimated values.

I've got it locked up in my dad's safe at this time but can pull it out when I'm over there this weekend and get some pics of it to get better opinions. Btw, what do the first two numbers of the serial number matter and what difference does it make please?

Ok, I've got some pics of the gun; hopefully I can get them posted here correctly. The first two digits of the serial number are 01. There is a scratch on the barrel that appears to go through the bluing. Not sure of best way to fix this; maybe a bluing pen or some other suggestions?

It is a 1999 336CB and I've seen them sell for between $1000.00 and $1200.00 in that condition... Without the scratch it could be worth $1350.00...

The ones that bring bigger money are in 38-55 caliber...

Beautiful rifle. I had one in 38-55 that I let get away. I sure wish I still had it. And yes, a simple touch up with a bluing pen might be in order. Other than that, it looks new.
