    Passed on a beautiful 1970 336 30-30 today

Stopped in one of my local pawn stores today and they had a nice marlin lever on the rack. I asked to check it out and was really surprised at the condition. It didn't look like it ever had a scope on it but had the JM hammer spur and the round hood sight. The bluing and wood was perfect and I thought it must have been a safe queen, looked at the trigger and not a sign of wear. It was priced at $399.95 and sure was tempting but I have a couple already. Thinking about what that perfect JM hammer spur and round sight hood makes me think I should go back and get it.

I made the same mistake about a month ago - sharp JM 336 in 30-30 with the hammer extension but no scope - was selling the scope separate - pawn shop owner had it marked $399 and offered it to me for $300 tax included out the door. I left and came back the next morning and it was gone....regrets or no regrets.....?!?!

Sounds too good to pass up, unless you don't have the money for it.

Did you go back and buy it yet?

That's as good a reason as any.

I bought one for $300.00 a year or so ago that was in great condition. The one I bought had the medallion on the stock for the 100 years. I didn't need it as I already have a couple of other 30-30's that I like better but it was so cheap I went ahead and bought it. Later I sold it for what I paid to fund another one.
