Weaver Top Mount Rings (Old snap over 2 screw strap design) which side do nuts sit

Folks I have a 336W newly acquired that I am kind of wanting to keep a little old school, I think......anyway I have some weaver top mount rings on hand the old type that snap over the scope tube and have ordered a weaver 1-3x20 for it .

I know they are not the latest and greatest rings, but I do know they are very strong and hang on well !

Question...I know on all the tac style rings the detach nuts go opposite side to the bolt handle...what about on lever 336's etc. ? Nuts opposite the ejection port or not with these old weaver top mount rings ?

I like the screw head on the right, but I don't think it matters. I'll try and take a look when I get home.

Definitely the screw heads on the RHS. That's what Weaver intended.

Yep, just checked. I don't remember if the screw heads are actually nuts, but both of mine are on the right side.

Right hand side here too. Just scoped a 99 with same rings.

It doesn't matter, but I put the nuts on the right to avoid snagging them on clothing.

I hated those rings. It's difficult to get the crosshairs plumb and level with them. By the way, right side for the nuts on the rings is always how I used them.
