Just aquiired 30-30. Lots of pics

I picked this up just Friday on the way to work. I probably should have wiped it down as it has some fuzzies on it from the gun sock I keep all my wood stocked rifles in.

It's a 1972 336 in 30-30. The pictures really don't do the bluing justice and there's zero rust any where that I can find. The flash on the camera makes it a bit hard to see the luster but what the heck you guys get the jest. It has no letters after the 336 so not sure what the may mean and maybe someone can enlighten me please. The bore is bright and rifling crisp as though there was never a round down it. I took a pic of the bolt face the best I could and the bolt and still looks brand new.

Nice rifle. Very nice. Looks like they put the rear sling stud in the bullseye. Gotta give 'em extra credit for that.

That is one fine Marlin! Obviously they don't make them like that anymore. I especially like the smooth stocks, who needs checkering? Especially when it comes out looking like it was done with a cheese grader.

No they don't make them like this anymore. Even though the checkering looks nice on some rifles I prefer none. I still can't believe this is now home with me. To go to a gun shop looking for something completely different in all aspects ( reloading stuff) and to find this I just shake my head. They price on it of only $300 and I just couldn't pass it up. Oddly enough with the gun sock the total bill came out to $336.11

Beware of the sling attachment in the bullseye, how many threads do you think are actually into the wood?

It's coming out and replacing the bullseye. Since I'm going to do that I'll refinish the front stock also to remove the scratches. Thinking of a true oil finish.
