    Marlin 308MX JM Only?

Educate me please. Were the 308MX JM manufacture only? Local classified has one up for sale LNIB and the add says no JM stamp. We all know that got missed once in a while. Lousy pics but the checkering looks like the newer production Remlins.

I had a 2012 Remlin 308MX which I got rid of due to some internal parts not being heat treated correctly. Seems like most of the Remlin 308MX/MXLR rifles that have turned up on MO were made around the 2012-2014 time frame.

Quick answer is no 308 MX/MXLR were made by JM and Remlin. Quickest way to tell is by the first 2 digits of the serial number. Ask the seller for it. There are guns out there that were made by JM that lack the “mark” for various reasons, most were good. Good luck, I love mine, both are 07s and are easy shooting, tack drivers.

JM 308MXs/MXLRs were made between 2007-2009 IIRC--my "new" JM 308MX is a 2007 model. Remlin made a short run of 308MXs/MXLRs with left over CT parts between 2012-2014 or so. I bet the rifle you reference is probably a Remlin.

Be careful, I believe some of these produced in 2009 were affected by the barrel droop issue. It was only a small portion of that years production.
Make sure you look it over carefully, if it is a 2009 research the barrel droop issue for what to look for. 2009 serial # will begin with 91.
You cannot send it back to Marlin if it does have droop, they do not have any receivers left.

I have a Remlin 308 MX. You can tel as the serial number starts with " MR". On my barrel where you would normally have the "JM" stamp it has a "PEP" inside an oval stamped outline. I won't get into details but mine required a considerable amount of TLC right out of the box new to get it to where it can compete with an old JM Marlin.

Thanks for the education guys. I was only moderately interested to begin with. I prefer the flat/round nose caliber Marlins. I am going to email the seller and see what the first two digits of the SN are.

    I’ve got a Remlin .308MXLR.
It was recalled by REMLIN due to known droop. Reciever and bolt were replaced. It has an MRxxxxxxx ser.#, bolt lacks the fluting. Barrel has Rep xx proof marks.

It however has become my favorite centerfire rifle /cartridge. Tall order considered what all I have...

This is the first I have heard of any Remlins being affected by the barrel droop issue.
