    338MX Range Update

Went back to the range last week to dial in the 338 and 444 after repairs and scope swaps. As anticipated the 444 took 4 rounds to adjust back to MOA at 2inchs high. What a great shooter! Switch to the 338MX dialed it in to 0 at 200. Sub MOA at 100 so I pushed it out to 300 to see how it would do. 3 shots 3.6inch spread all vital shots on my spatter deer target! My shoulder gave out after that but DAMN! I am sure in the hands of a real expert it would really tighten up but factory ammo and my old trigger finger don’t do her justice. What a great rifle! Thanks 10 for the purchase!!

Have owned both and agree with you, they are fine calibers.

That is good to hear. I purchased a 338 MXLR from a member here and it included some factory ammo. It looks as though I am not going to have time to work up a handload on an elk hunt so its good to see that factory ammo will work fine. Nice shooting.

That 338MX does have a punch to it especially with Hornady ammo.

I concur, sort of a punch/kick/shove... but if you can keep the flinch away its a ringer.

I dunno, THH, that's the kind of shooting I'd be proud of. I can do slightly better with my Savage F10, long range, bull barreled single shot target 308, eighteen pounds with scope.

You either conquered the accursed flinch or you got lucky - I'd vote the former. Have any photos?
