My computer doesn,t have good clarity anymore but it doesn,t seem to be a equal comparison cause on the second pic you have the s/edge on top of the site and the second you do not.

In the first pic the straight edge is actually behind the sight hood or under it as the rifle is lying on its side. In the second pic the straight edge appears to be on top of the sight hood, but this rifle is also lying on its side and the straight edge is over the sight hood, not touching it.

In both pictures the other end of the straight edge is flush on the top of the receiver...

This shows just how much the barrel in the lower picture is misaligned with the receiver... The rifle in the lower picture has the dreaded "barrel droop"...

Another example of a Remlin miss drilled and tapped receiver. This one is a June 2013 Spikehorn and the barrel is pointing toward the left...

A better way is to check the dates 93 and higher to insure a JM gun.

If it's a 2009 then potentially it may have the dreaded droop. Yet, this only affected a small percentage of a 2009 production run. It was caused by an out of calibration machine responsible for producing the receivers.

The greater majority of affected 338ME's have been purchased and returned on warranty to receive new receivers.
