    Sights & Scope 1894CSBL

Didn't want to lose the nice factory XS ring sights but still wanted a scope. Ended up with a Vortex Crossfire 1-4x24 and used raised see thru mounts to be able to use either accurately. Looks pretty good on the Marlin to IMO...your mileage may vary.

Has anyone any thoughts or experience on this type of set up. We've done the sighting and we've optimized the scope for 100 yards for maximum versatility.

Our first lever-action and we never thought it would be this much fun too. New to the forum. Thanks for all the warm welcomes. BTW no issues with fit, finish or function on our Marlin. Prefer to call it that vs a Remlin as some seem to.

    Take good aim and stock...

Picture0625171048_1 - Edited.jpg+1. Those see-thru scope rings look great no matter where you mount them. I can see my aperture sights clear as a bell now. No mileage variation here. Looking forward to your range report.

I have used this set up a couple of times. Once on a BLR and once on a Winchester 94. I always had trouble making it comfortable and natural to use the sights without putting my forehead in harms way of the scope. I have since switched to quick release scope mounts. If I want open sights I just remove the scope and put it in my hunting pack. How about a pic of the whole rifle to see how far forward you mounted the scope? Nice rifle and cool set up for sure. Enjoy!

I have the same rifle. I agree that they are Marlins my fit and finish is also very good. The rifle shoots very nice. If I wanted a glass on mine your set up would work very well. I would probably go with a Red Dot (tube type) on mine but the irons are good for me right now.

Couple of pics attached. I've got a red dot on my Ruger PC and I'm not sure which I prefer. But it'll be fun doing a few rounds in each to decide. I have a soft spot for the lever, it just has a neat and functional feel to it. The PC has bipod and light and laser accessories on it.

For me this set up as shown us comfortable, no worries about the scope being in the way and just an eyeball down still gets me a quick acquisition on the XS iron sights for more close up shooting.

    Thanks for your feedback. Cheers

    Congratulations !
    Fun little gun.
    I like those mounts.
Will need to look into them if i ever put a scope on mine.

Take a read through the following post of mine for information on my journey with this rifle.

To me, I want the scope as low as possible. A well-known customizer did this:

    marlin_1894_grizzly_custom_guns_44_magnum_low-mount_ultralight_scope_2-.jpg-nggid03182-ngg0dyn-0.jpg

which would be the ideal height.

Tough to have irons with that, though. Maybe quick-release rings (er, scratch that ... I should have looked closer before I spoke) and a tang-mounted rear sight?

David, hope things are better for you now. Certainly not fun to have to go thru that. Cheers
