The whole point of the BDC is to get people shooting accurately with their own .22lrs.  That experience translates to all your rifle shooting.  I maxed the BDC using a CZ 452 American with a Bushnell Banner AO scope.  I did it about 5-6 years ago with bifocals.  Even with a pretty good .22 and a decent scope, it is a very difficult challenge and took me weeks to do it.  I was so much better a shooter afterward.

I really had to go back to basics, or more properly BRASS:

B - breath
R - relax
A - aim
S - stop your breath (I stop at half way)
S - squeeze the trigger - let it surprise you.

The eye thing was a challenge.  I just shot a lot and found what worked best for me.  I have seen the benefit in all my shooting too.  Good luck!

Firstshot has been absent for a long time. The last time I saw a post by him was on The Southern Ourdoorsman and that was a long time ago.  The black death target was originally brought to light on the old marlin forum by John Semione (sp)  aka Dali Lama #2 aka Uncle John's Outdoors. Firstshot transferred it over to this new marlin forum.

I thought I would go sight in my new 983T 22 WMR yesterday, then try the BDT (or sort of).  I only had a chance to make a couple of attempts which were ONLY shooting one round at each target.  Here is my best effort with the new rifle.  Not too bad.

I hope folks keep shooting BD targets and posting their results.

Marlins are inherently precise and should do well as long as the owner has taken the time to find the ammo theat their particular rifle is best with.

I am starting the process again.   Grin  I really learned a lot the first time.  I am getting a sniper rifle in a few months and I think the best way to prepare is to shoot some tiny groups with my bolt action .22, a CZ .452.  It has a Leupold VX1 2.5-7 with a duplex reticule.  I was checking out ammo today and it looks like CCI Minimag will be the ammo of choice.  Looks like I have some work to do.  My 3 5 shot groups of the day were .779, .527, and .704 respectively.  As you can tell I was adjusting my zero at the same time, the top left in the picture being the last one.  The only one that is even close to the right size is the 4 shots from the second group (exterior diameter was less than .5").  I don't feel too bad since I'm getting ready for a 50yd attempt, and all these targets are at that range.
