Hello all! Retired Navy and located in Ladson, SC. Originally from New Orleans (actually Gretna LA.)If nobody minds, I'll open with a question. My choice is between a 336c in .35 rem and a standard 1895 in 45-70 gov't.  The 336c is more available and slightly less expensive than the 45-70. So, is it worth the wait for the 45-70? I'll be hunting mostly deer and a pig or two. Most shots will be from almost point blank out to maybe 200 yds. Thanks for any input I receive and this is one mell of a great site. Lots of knowledge for the pickin'!

Welcome from the sandhills of South Carolina. Go with the 35 then get the 45-70 later. Thats my plan, already got the 35. Oh and a 44mag/1894.

Welcome to MO from ABQ NM.

As for your question: I would go for the 45-70. I like big bores. Actually consider the 1895M in 450 Marlin. It is a heck of a round, not that the other two are not. I have a 450 and it is my second most favorite gun.

You'll end up with both. So the .35 will be the quicker find.
