Prior to 1905, it was designated & stamped as the Marlin Model 1897...1906-1922 would be stamped Marlin Model 97.
The 97's are Takedown models. Most of the 1897's were as well.
16", 24", 26" & 28" barrel lengths.
Plain, straight-grip stock, but pistol-grip stock available at additional cost.
Tube Mag holds 25 Short, 20 Long, or 18 LR.
Standard sights were open rear, bead front.
