i finally got my 336sc back from my gunsmith, bore sighted the scope, and went on a date with her at the range.  there she was sighted in with federal 150 grain soft points.  then she fired remington 150 and 170 grain core lokts and remington 150 hollowpoints at alomost the same point of impact. but she didnt like the 150 grain winchester hollow points.

the rifle is 56 years old and wears a 1.5 to 4.5 power bushnell.  with the remington 170 gn, i fired a group just over 1 inch at 100 yards...that's amazing for me.

can't wait until rifle season starts!!!  just thought i would brag on my rifle a little.  i'm at work now and cant post any pictures.

Sounds like a shooter to me.

My Marlins prefer Rem 170 CL's too.

i bought the rifle about 3 weeks ago, and the previous owner(s) drilled and tapped the receiver AND the barrel, some of the holes were stripped out, filled with dirt, grease, gunk etc. i had my gunsmith/buddy clean them out and drill new holes inthe receiver only, then he milled a new base for the rifle, mounted and bore sighted the scope...oh, he tightened up the forearm a little too.

it just amazed me how good the rifle actually shot.  i thought i would just sight it for very close range and use it in the thick stuff for bear but, im gonna hunt with it alot this rifle season hopefully.  my buddies wont know how to take me hunting with a rifle so old when i have so many other "nice" rifles.

That rifle is so old you should call it "Sir"   Usually older is better.
