This one is NIB. I took it out of box, cleaned it real good and tried it out same day and it shot just fine. Ran about 30 or so rounds and did not hicup at all.
I put the peep sight on and tried using that with about 30 rounds and my eye started watering so I took the peep off. I then put on the first scope and shot about 30 rounds and it started acting up then.
I have since removed the scope and installed the new ProStaff that just came in today and had all kinds of no fires!
Took the rifle apart and stoned the pin down one more time and gave it a quick 10 rounds into the woods and still had a couple of no fires.
I just don't know how far down I can stone the pin before gettng into trouble!

Take a little bit off the lower portion of the rebound strut for a harder hammer strike. The hammer hits the rebound strut and slows down.

The washer is placed between the spring and retainer, problem making the spring stronger you also make the rebound stronger. Older guns without the rebound strut yeah new ones no.
I've been tempted to eliminate the rebound strut on mine and cut the half cock notch so it is usable and just eliminate the rebound completely.
Thing is the work around is not that hard just a little tweaking, kind of a good balance.
One precaution I do hope you are not using Rem Golden .22s every gun I have has misfires with that crap.

The ammo I am using is the Federal Champion in blue box. As stated before, I use this in my Ruger 10/22 and also in my Ruger Mark III with no misfires at all.
When I do get a miss, I take the round out and look at it and can see the strike mark on the rim. Other times I just pull the hammer back and shoot again and the round will fire. I am now wondering if I need to take the 39A to the gunsmith, or contact Marlin, if that will do any good.

Next time you go to shoot the rifle cock the hammer and then push the firering pin in with your finger first and then pull the trigger and see if that makes a difference. Steve!

nail, I have tried that one already. I saw the firing pin sticking out towards the hammer, and thought maybe it was hung up so I pushed it in and it was moving freely.
I removed the pin to make sure nothing was causing it to jam. I lightly oiled my fingers and then wiped the firing pin with my fingers. It is making a strike on the rim. The impression is there!

Good evening TallGrass.
It was a beautiful day today. No, I have not gotten any further with the FTF issue. I did file back the pin a little more the other day and ran off 10 rounds, but still had the issue. I am not sure how far I am able to stone or file the step in the pin before causing a rupture in the rim case, or if that is even possible.
I did buy a box of Winchester ammo yesterday at Walmart to give them a try, but haven't had a chance to check it out yet.
