A new .22LR test...

After using them on game animals, I tend to agree with Andrew that within closer yardages (50-75) subsonics can be just as devastating if not more so than HV cartridges. Trying to approximate a game animal's skull, I used a piece of weathered 3/8" plywood.
Rifle; Anschutz "woodchucker" 16.25" barrel, done in barn, so range was about 15'.
You will notice the bullet holes are labeled, most entry holes look similar, except the Aguila SSS 60gr, which apparently entered the target broadside. They wouldn't likely be too accurate with this rifle at longer range. I'll follow this post with the exit side.

Now for the reverse side, showing the effects of the 3@ 1/8" plys. Remember, when flipped over the left becomes the right side. Notice the Federal 510 solids went through with little disturbance and (surprise) my long-time favorites, the Mini-mag HP rounds made just a little more disruption. Thje WW Xpert (white box, 500 rounds) with their gaping hollow points, looked pretty good.
The 60gr Aguila SSS made some real holes, as one would expect 60 gr going sideways would do. Personally, I think the Aguila subsonic HP rounds were the star of the show..taking out more of the 2nd & 3rd plys. Not scientific I know, but I believe this is an indicator.

Good report.
The 60gn bullets are for guns with a fast twist. They do well in fast twists as quick as 1 in 8 or 1 in 10 sometimes.
But then they are made for lethal penetration with muffler attached.

Note the WW Xpert rounds from the bulk 500@box. I have had good success with them on live targets. While most HV hollowpoints are rated @ from 1260 to 1280 fps, the Xperts are rated at 1220 fps. No, they don't hold quite as tight a group (IMO) as say,Mini-mags or WW Power-points, but they are well within hunting parameters. I really appreciate the large, open hollow points they share with WW Power points. They do real damage for a 1220 fps bullet.
