Got this one tonight in my trap.  He's been pig'n out in my trash the past few days.  Those .22 cb shorts work wonders when you need to be quiet.
He'll make a good pelt.

Dropped this six point whitetail this morning. Got him on the move while he was chasing a doe across the field.

Got him opening morning using my 336 Marlin 30/30, using core-lokt 170 gr.  One shot kill through the heart, broke both front legs and turned his heart into mush, no suffering for this buck. On a side note, it was the first time I ever deer hunted in 44 years.

Welcome to the brotherhood Smitty!  Congrats on a great buck!

I see we have several spots for hunting photo's. Here is another of this years bull but shows more of the body size of an elk. How would you like to pack one of these out two miles one way? Huh

I got a nice 7 pt. on wed. Dressed 142 lbs. One shot from 60yds he ran 40yds did a complete circle reared up on his hind legs and landed flat on his back.  I was situated in my climbing stand by 5:45, legal shooting light was 6:15 and he came to me at 7:15.  I was on the ground by 7:30 gathering my gear when I saw a flag and I thought to myself how did that sob get up,  well let me tell you what I saw next was a monster 10 pt.  he gave me a wink and was gone.  These situations are what keeps me coming back you just can't buy that kind of drama.  I remember some of my more seasoned hunting buddies say that you should always stay alert and in position for at least 30 min after a kill you never know what else is commin,  especially on opening mornin well I guess they were right.

Fine bucks, Smitty and Mr. Chitlin!  Well done.  You, too, Leviathan.

I'm headed back to Breckenridge to pick up the meat from my buck tomorrow.  It's finally cooled off here so some venison chili sounds pretty good. . .

Nice work, marauder.  The looks of the neck on your buck tells me he was definitely "on the prowl."

One rainy morning in Missouri 25 years ago my father, my son, and I knew from all the sign there was a true big boy in the area of our stands.  I became hypothermic soon after daylight, left my stand to move around, and got the drop on a bedded buck.  He wasn't Mr. Big but a nice buck to tag.  I rounded up Dad and my young son from their stands so my son could learn about field dressing.

While the three of us were bent over my buck in the middle of chores here came the big one with three does.  The deer stopped and looked at us for a moment at less than 20 yards.  They soon had enough and bounced on their way.  We just stood there with bloody hands and beating hearts.  Not a shot was fired.  Pretty exciting stuff.

Congratulations.

You guys are definitely shooting some mighty fine bucks.  The season starts here tomorrow, and it's certainly gotten me in the mood.  Saw a nice little 6 pt at my stand yesterday while I was scouting.  I know there is an 8 pt and 2 other smaller bucks on the property.  So my friends and I are hoping we can take a few off the property.

Season opened yesterday in MS. I was in a stand looking over a foodplot all but about three hours yesterday (three hours in the rain). I was cold and wet. This was the only thing that ran out all day and it ran out at dark. I was using my Handi rifle, not my Marlin and it didn't disappoint! Anyway my first kill of the 09/10 season...

Heh heh. Sorry. Couldn't resist. Grin
