Found this forum after I picked up a "2003" 45/70 GS a few weeks ago and went cruising for reloading data. This is a rich source of informaiton for all matters Marlin.
Looking forward to deer hunting with the 45/70 this fall in Western Wisconsin along with numerous trips to the range. Other Marlin's in my gun case include a 1958 39A Golden Mountie bought used in 1964 and a 1894 44 Mag made by Remington - although I should have read the list first this 1894 has a good bore and chamber. Will work on de-buring the action to smooth it up.
I miss my 444 purchased in 1970 at a discount store for $167.90. Used it for deer hunting for a number of years but was always disappointed with the factory 240 grain "boolits" performance. Sold it a year before I heard of the 265 grain load.
