For a relatively new made Marlin, how do you tell if it was made by the old Marlin or the new Remington? ( *assume* either serial number and/or manufacturing markings etc. Looked for a sticky/Faq, didn't find it, so hopefully this isn't often asked question.

Thanks,

Does it really say NEW Haven on the barrel? Marlin moved out of the New Haven plant back in 1969. Didnt think Remington could use that. Maybe it says North Haven.

To date the Remington Made Marlins, your gonna have to get on Remingtons Website and look. They have there own way of dating thier guns.

Ha!! Your in luck. I had it Book Marked.

If JM is stamped on the barrel just in from of the receiver the gun was made before 2010. If it is stamped REP then the gun was made after Remington took Marlin Over which was in 2010.
