    Marlin 1871 .410 lever action

Hey there! I was helping a friend clean out their parents house and came across an odd Marlin. It's a lever action .410 shotgun, the only marking i saw was model 1871 stamped on it. I should have snapped a pic of it but didn't think of it then. I did a little surfing and didn't come up with much. It doesn't look new at all but the action operated just fine. Anybody have any info on this one and a value? Thanks

My searches keep coming up with H&R stuff, which seems wrong. It's pretty old and clearly stamped Marlin, model 1871, and .410 gauge. What should I be looking for that I'm not finding? Sorry if it seems dumb of me - I just don't know.

the Marlin Model .410 SHOTGUN was made between 1929 and 1932. It was a lever action shotgun made on the Model 1893 action with some revisions.

    A picture would help.

Yeah, pics would help, as nothing I can think of, from Marlin fits his description. And have never heard of a Ballard shotgun either.

I have one of the lever 410s mentioned, and dont recall it even being stamped 410 at all, but it might be. I know its in the back of the safe, and not really worth digging it out at present.

Thanks everyone! I did figure it out after a bit more searching - seems if I drop the 1871 from the search and just look for "Marlin 410 lever" I come up with all kinds of stuff. Looks like I stumbled across one of the early 1929-32 shotguns that was a stockholders promotional item - sure beats the hell out of just getting a dividend check. I know I should have gotten the serial number and a few pics but just didnt think of it at the time. But it looks exactly like this one - Item:9605132 Marlin Marlin Model 410 Lever Action .410 Shotgun For Sale at GunAuction.com Seems like a really cool lever, I'm going to have to try and add this one to the collection.

So where did you get the 1871 number off of your gun? The serial number maybe? I think that was what had everyone confused. I dont believe Marlin was even in business in 1871.
