Hello all. Great forum you all have here. I have a Marlin 7000 that I have had for close to 10 years now. I am the original owner and I religiously clean and maintain it after every shooting session. For the last year or so the last shot hold open has well failed to hold open. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so what did you do to repair the problem?
Mine's an '03' and nary a problem with it. Does the tab that catches and holds the bolt back seem deformed at all ? You'll have to pull the action out of the receiver to really see any damage. Took the 7000 along with others to the range today and using Blazers at 50 yards, it gives a 5 shot ragged hole. This is a much better rifle for the money than the first year 10/22 T's I had.
FWIW Brownell's has the 795 LSHO assembly if you need one. I assume the 7000 and 795 are the same part. Anyway, the price is like under $11 plus shipping of course.
Yup. Happens now and then. The hold open on my 7000T has done that since I picked it up new. I count rounds anyway so banging the firing pin hasn't been an issue. I've looked at the mechanism and it's not damaged. Not sure why it does it, it just does.
BTW, Blazer works well in mine too. I ran a few different brands this past weekend after changing scopes. Eley Standard (aka Club) and CCI Mini-Mags don't do well in it. Aguila standard velocity and CCI Blazers do pretty much the same. Scored a few thousand more Blazers last night from Natchez for about $100. Local big box store doesn't carry the Blazer anymore so had to go online.
If you put the action in the stock too far to the right, it will bind the LSHO...
I'd remove a little material in the inside of the stock where the lever moves...solves a lot of issues.
Also, make the hole where the LSHO lever comes out a wee bit wider...don't monkey with the hole thru the Trigger Guard, tho...
unless its got a burr.
