    Model 38

I found a model 38 in a pawn shop yesterday. Serial prefix "A", can anyone date that for me. The serial prefix chart in the reference section doesnt show an "a". The gun was in good shape and priced at $400.00, Think that is fair?

There's a site on Yahoo where a guy lists the values of a 38 as: 100% - 750.00, 90% - 450.00, 80% - 375.00, 70% - 225.00. According to this site they were made in the 1920's and could be worth more to a collector. Sorry, I don't know how to post a link to this site but if you Google "Marlin model 38" you should be able to find it under Yahoo answers.

I also have a mod.38 with a prefix A and only three diget ser.#.Dont have an answer for you,but wish i did. I'm in the process of fixing my magazine tube, should say making my tubes. I don't see alot of the hammerless pumps compared to the exposed hammer like the mod.20's
