The 2012 NRA convention had over 500 exhibitors occupying 340,000 square feet, but for me, the highlight of the show was the small booth of the Marlin Firearms Collectors Association way back in the last row of hall #4. This year's display highlighted the incredible collection of Harvey Frakes, a wounded military veteran who was inspired by the well-used Marlin rimfire left to him by his grandfather.
This spectacular collection of early case-hardened .22's...all in original condition...some actually new in their original boxes...and the story of how building this collection helped Harvey rehabilitate from the serious head injuries he had suffered...was awe inspiring.
Enjoy my rather weak attempt to bring this compilation of incredible beauty and history to you.
