Re: williams Fool proof sight 39A

I'll second 'Coasties comments. I had a Williams FP-39 (side mount w/o target knobs) on my 39A and, although it is a fine sight with excellent adjustability, it is very bulky. The base of the sight is very thick, nearly doubling the width of the 39's receiver. The FP is back in it's box and the 39A now wears a Leupold Rimfire scope

Later, when I decided to add a receiver sight to a 39 Mountie, I chose the Skinner as it's size and shape is a perfect match for the slim lines of the 39s. The Skinner lacks the micro-adjustability of the FP but once sighted in for the ammo that Mountie likes, it has performed flawlessly.

    Thanks Fellas,

i'm interested in the sight with the target knobs, for cowboy silhouette....

I thought about using a marbles tang...but the dogone serial number is on the tang. dont wanna drill through that....I know lyman makes the adapter, but marbles has the click adjustment for fine tuning, and windage which is a big plus!
I have the marbles sight for the rifle, it's on my winchester 9422,

I remember seeing them on rifles at the range...but cant remember how bulky they were.

There is a picture of one (I think) over on rimfirecentral in the stickied Marlin picture thread. Post #386 around page 26 or so. I'm thinking of doing the same thing for the same reasons.

Re: williams Fool proof sight 39A

Sorry, no picture, but I do have that exact sight on my 39A. It works great for me because I can dial in adjustments between the different types of ammo I like to shoot. The hot loads from CCI don't hit eh same point of aim as the Super Collibri's.

It is a big sight but it's no so big that it bothers me.

I know there are two sights listed on the williams sight [site] one for the FP 39a and another that is the FP TM [top mount] for the 39a....since I have the newer 39a its the top mount I want correct?

    Thanks

Re: williams Fool proof sight 39A

the top mount is for the newer 39a's becasue if i remember correctly the newer ones arnt d&t on the side of the reciever(dont know why) i ended up getting the TM one, if i had just got the normal FP i probably would be looking at getting different peep for her.
if you are interested let me know on the sight.

hope the pictures help your choice.

    hi Calicoastie

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.....Thanks for the picture!

I contacted Marbles Co., and asked them about the tang sight fitting the new rifle, since it had the serial number stamped on the tang, they sent me instructions on how it can work. If the rear tang screw is less than 1/2" from the last number, it will work...mines AOK for the sight they make for it.. I like the idea of the tang sight, its more....like its suppose to be there kinda thing...

    Thanks anyway!
