    Extended mag release for 795?

I love my 795, but would love it even more with drop free mags and an extended (or just easier to use) mag release. I can't find such a thing. Does anyone know of a source? Or any tips on how to improve the factory setup? Thanks.

Got a guy workin on it over at RFC...he will update when its ready for sale.
Still in early stages...but as soon as its ready, we'll pass the word

    One possibility

This is a concept I posted on rimfirecentral - as soon as I remember to look at the hardware store for something to use as the release tab extension (shown in red), I'll superglue it to the stock release as shown and see how it works. Feedback welcome.

Are you thinking plastic or perhaps crimping a bent piece of sheet metal on there?

    I LOVE the idea!

After posting last night, I ordered a spare mag release lever from Midway so I can get a good look at what I'm starting with, but if it's as expected, here's my plan:
    1) grind the plastic off the end of the MR lever that's now in my 795
    2) cut off the "L" end of the spare MR lever
    3) use a metal-to-metal superglue to bond the "L" end of the spare onto the bottom of the original in the 795
    4) coat the new extended (hanging down) end and the overlap between original and extension with pickup bedliner or Plasti Dip (thick rubbery stuff used on pliers handles and other tools).

I'm trying to avoid taking the 795 apart to replace the existing lever, and I'm afraid welding the spare lever to the original one would put too much heat into the springs, etc., if welding was tried without disassembly.

Less expensive than the Marlin spare lever would be a simple metal corner bracket from the hardware store. It might take more filing/grinding to shape it, but the design would be essentially the same.

First one to make this mod must post pix!

    That'll probably be you first!

Sounds like it will work well. How much further down will you extend it?

If I use a spare mag release lever, it'd hang down the length of the plastic-coated part (10-12mm?) - just enough to get a good fingertip grip on.

    Here's my intended cutting point:

So that's around 3/8"? Should be plenty.

Looking forward to watching this project.

    Lightbulb Extended Mag Release

Hello everyone, I am a new member of this forum but I have used it plenty in the past. I came upon this post some time ago and I wanted to share my extended mag release idea. It is made from aluminum so it is lightweight yet still strong. It works extremely smoothly with no affect on round cycling or how the mag is seated. A must have for the 795!
