Can anyone please tell me if a marlin 883 receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases
Hi rn2262, Welcome to the Forum!
I believe the 883 has a grooved receiver, not drilled and tapped, but I'll let someone who knows for sure give you a definitive answer. I just wanted to say hi and all.

Howdy, not sure but I have the model 783, 22 Mag (just the earlier model) and it is grooved. I don't think that any of the 783, 883 or 983 models were drilled and tapped.

1996 883 is not drilled and tapped.
I recall the 883SQ is both grooved and Drilled and tapped.......... But I don't recall when the D&T'ing started.

Thanks for the info guys, new to forum but looking forward to chatting with other marlin lovers. My NIB 883 will be here next week, guess I'll know then what hardware to look for when mounting the optics. Thanks again
My marlin 983ss is grooved and drilled and tapped. It uses a weaver 12 (2) piece mount for 1" rings. When you get your new marlin they should be in the box, or there will be a card where you can order them. My 917vfls, & 917 mach2 take the same mounts. Two of these came with the mounts, I had to order from marlin for one of them,I can't remember which one.
