    Marlin Bull Barrel ?

Did Marlin EVER build a bull barrel target rimfire rifle? Ruger, Savage, Remington, have all built bull barrel target rifles. I saw a very nice factory made Ruger 10/22 with Hammer Forged Stainless Steel Barrel and a thumbhole Boyds stock this week and considering purchasing it.

    Thanks,

    Yes.

There's one in the current lineup.

    It's called the XT22VR.

    You can see it here.

    Looks like a nice rifle.

That trigger looks quite similar to Savage's Accutrigger. If it works like the Savage trigger, you will like it a lot.

    Re: Marlin Bull Barrel ?

Is there any real difference between the Marlin rimfire bolt guns and the Savage-stamped guns? I have two of the Savages, one a bull-barrel and the other a standard model, and they look just like the Marlin offerings.

Are they made by the same factory and stamped with different names?

    Re: Hal agreeing with PJ,

I think they'll do a Campfire, and toast some S'mores, first..............then Kumbaya, and maybe even Row,Row Row your boat!..

    Sorry Guys..........I couldn't resist.............havent' had coffee yet.....

Re: The likeness of the rifles..............I think its one company trying to copy the other's product, price point and visual appeal.
Marlin did build some 99 Sav barrels many years ago, but I was never aware of a partnership on BARF rifles.........I could be wrong, too..........

Marlin produced a rimfire, specifically for target shooting, I think it was a model 2000L. It was dropped from the catalog around 2001 or so. Every now and then, you can find used ones. For the money, they were okay from what I heard, but for the prices other rifles capable of finer precision were available for only slightly more money.

Don't have any personal experience with them, but from what I remember, they were pretty utilitarian.
