Henry 22 Mag or Remington ???

Looking at 2 different pump action rifles.

Henry pump action in 22 Winchester Magnum

    Or..

    Remington Pump Action 22 lr.

Leaning towards the Henry because it comes in 22 Magnum.

    Opinions?

Re: Henry 22 Mag or Remington ???

Having owned Henrys and Remington .22s and magnums I'd go with the Remington. I found the Henrys I had were nice rifles but they weren't accurate enough for what I wanted. They look and work fine but if they don't put a bullet where you want it to go its just a noise maker. I saw a Remington pump in 22Mag. yesterday at the Macon, Ga. gun show for about $350.00. I was looking for a Remington pump in 22lr so I passed this one. It was an older model. I forget what model # it was but it;s the pump that looks alot like the Remington Speedmaster auto. Older Remingtons are nice rifles. Much better than the junk they are producing now.

Would that be called the 572 Fieldmaster? I have the 552 Speedmaster (auto-loader)... very nice .22 S/L/LR rig.

    Greenfox,

I don't know how much accuracy you need but here's a link to a Shooting Times article that shows 100yd 5 shot groups from 1.50" - 2.29".

FWIW,,,, I have the Henry Frontier (lever action) with the same octagon barrel that the pump action wears.
It's by far the most accurate 22WMR I've ever owned.
I highly recommend the Henry rifles, but stay away from the little carbines if ya don't like plastic. Not that they aren't nice little guns at a very fair price,,,, I just can't come to grips with plastic parts on my rifles.

Re: Henry 22 Mag or Remington ???

personal preference here, but i would go with remington.

i dont have any experince with henry but just looking into them right now, on henrys web page they claim the older henry rifles( in the bottom left corner talking about abe lincons rifle) then claiming everyone should have one in their collection(i took it as refering to the modern rifles in the history page at the bottom).

That right there means i will not ever purchase them. I have heard nothing but good things for the most part about them but dont like companys trying to take credit for stuff they shouldnt. not right in my opionion. good luck with your choice, and that was my 2 cents. look forward to the pics no matter the choice btw.

I don't understand your concern... Henry (today's company) purchased the rights to Henry (yesterday's company). They purchased the bragging rights of days old. Their work today will determine their destiny for tomorrow's tales of "yesterday".
