Hello to allproud new owner of a 795........was reading that because of the 3/8 dovetail alot of people were having issues with scopes walking......does this just mean the mounts were loosening up?
I swear i saw a thread where a member recomended a set of rings for an air gun with vertical screws and it eliminated walking completely......can anyone help me with this?
I wouldn't think you would have a problem, if you use a good quality ring. I've never had problems like that in 40 years of shooting 22's.

I believe you're thinking of the Leapers one-piece air gun mount. Pretty popular. DIP's rail is another option.

The double dip recoil of a spring poston airgun can be death on scopes and cause the scope, in the mounts, to slide back on the receiver.
Dovetail mounts on a 22 semiauto can cause the same movement of scope in rings to rear of receiver because of unique viberations/harmonics. It is very common, and I highly recommend you use the one piece airgun mounts with the big one piece locking bar secured by 3 or 4 screws.
I found an old set of Weaver rings with the steel locking bars that had teeth/ridges stamped into them. They were much better than other mounts, but, eventually allowed scope creep. Get the airgun mounts and eliminate the problem. Go the the pyramidair web site and look at their offerings.
You will probably find that you do not have to use the set screws on the one piece mounts.
I never was as good as I used to be.
thank you all......boofie can you supply some links I am new to all this so dont know exactly what I am looking for thanks brother

They run from about $15.00 to about $70.00. You do not need the most expensive for your Marlin.
