Howdy Everyone,
My 39M was purchased a bit rough, but for $325 total commitment that is okay.
Here is my question. When assembled, the takedown screw does not seat against the receiver...there is about a millimeter gap between the bottom of the screw and the side of the receiver.
Should this gap be there? Or is there something like a nylon washer that is supposed to be between the two pieces?
I'd like to get a whole screw replacement set and then Brownell's Moly/Tef the whole thing.

Right........The screw iand the receiver are designed so the head of the screw does not touch the receiver. Take a good look at the underside of the head and the receiver, you'll see its relieved so only a small diameter contacts the receiver.Originally Posted by Scot

Thanks for the replies!
It is a brilliant design...Marlin keeps me marvelling, more so than John Moses.

While I agree LL Hepburn was a brilliant guy I can't say, in my opinion, that he or ANYBODY that this planet has seen or will see can even consider themselves half the genius Mr. Browning was in gun design....the guy was simply an anomaly. I do agree though..the simplicity and functionality of the Marlins are impressive.Originally Posted by planeflyer21
I have to agree with you statement. Mr. Browning was one of a kind. I doubt that we will ever see his equal in the gun design field, again.Originally Posted by Scot
