Recently bid on and won one of these on GB. It came in today and it its junk. Forget 'em. Just thought I'd pass the word along. There's no mfrs. name on it but I think we know the outfit that sells 'em. Too bad this stuff hits the market.
That is the National Magazine 15-round Marlin magazine.
As far as I can tell, unless you mod it, it doesn't fit ANY Marlin.
My 795 doesn't like it, and niether does my 989-m2.
I had great hopes for that mag. I have seen many negative reviews about it though.
Well, after many hours of tinkering, filing, polishing and other means of "tweaking", I just ran 45 rounds of Federal 40 grain solids through this thing without a hitch. It will not feed hollow points consistently unless I reduce the number of loaded rounds to 10 or 12. The magazine requires quite a bit of pushing to get the last 5 rounds down and the last round (first to feed) has to have the nose lifted slightly before inserting the mag.
The main trick to get it even close to working was to junk the original cartridge follower and install a Marlin follower from a 7 round mag. The original was a piece of bent aluminum that looked to be a hacksawed piece flat stock. I had to do some X-acto trimming and sanding but it finally started to feed properly.
If I can find my dang camera, I'll try to post a pic or two. Was it wort the effort? No. I would have rather spent thirty bucks and bought one from a reputable dealer.
My biggest problem was that I can't get the NM 15-round mag to insert properly into EITHER of my mag-rifles.
The 989-m2 doesn't like it...
Niether does my brand-new 795...
Sadly, I can stick a brand new 10-round from the 795 INTO the 989-M2, and it fits just fine...
I also tried something else with an OLDER-style round-top mag...I dremeled a slot into it so that it could slide into a 795...but the round-top lips prevent it from fitting all the way into the 795.
So that makes me wonder if the Ramline plastic mags will fit, does anyone have one of those they can shoot a decent pic of the mag lips with

I bought three of the National Magazine mags from Sportsman's Guide about a year ago for my son's (formerly my) Model 995. I had the same trouble loading 15 rnds. that you did, but, being old and lazy, when I finally got them all in, I just left them loaded for about three months. I haven't had any trouble at all with them since, except that we have to remember to let the bolt fly home "smartly" from the fully retracted position on the first round. Any "following" at all produces a FTFd. It even feeds Rem. HPs. Maybe it is a small difference in the 995's feed ramp (from the other models mentioned above) that allows these mags to work so well in this particular gun. BTW, this little carbine is VERY thoroughly "broken-in", as you might correctly infer from its age.
Edited to add: IIRC, they cost me about $15.00 each + sh.
Had to settle for Marlin 10 rd mag at gander mtn $20.00 each. Couldn't wait.
