Well guys, I got a Western Auto Revelation, model 120. It looks for all the world, like a model 60 to me, but I am told it came from a model 99.
Either way, it is in excellent condition and came with a period small 22 scope.
Does anyone know the dates of manufacture? There is no serial #
Thanks

I've got one of those, too. The "no serial number" dates it before 1968. I got mine (well) used in about 1966, give or take a year. I am not sure what the differences are between the model 99 and 60 are, but current production parts (buffer, "c" clips, stock, etc.) fit mine and the model 60 "exploded diagram" is identical to what mine looks like internally. It is a good shooter. That is why I kept it.
janott,
I am no good with cameras and the computer. It just looks like a standard model 60 to me, but either way, I am going to take it for a shoot real soon and probably donate it to one of the kids for their never ending appetite for 22's.

The Model 99 was made between 1959 and 1961, a 99DL was made 1960-1964 and a 99C was made 1961-1978. Describe it better and maybe we can get it closer. Info from Brophys' book. Mr fixit

According to this site http://www.wisnersinc.com/additional...house_guns.htm the Western Auto 120 was indeed a Marlin 99.

For what it is worth, this is from Wikipedia:
The Revelation model 120 was manufactured for Western Auto Supply and is nearly identical to the first variant of the model 60, but also looks like a model 99. Many Revelation 120s were manufactured and sold without serial numbers until the use of serial numbers on firearms was made mandatory in 1968. The Revelation 120 has a different front sight (a brass dot as opposed to the model 60's hooded front sight) and the barrel is stamped WESTERN AUTO SUPPLY CO.
Added later.
This from Brownell's Gunsmith Kinks http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=1...unsmith_Kinks_:
The Revelation 120 was sold by Western Auto and is basically a Marlin model 60. These rifles have a rather complicated action which is difficult at best when it has to be completely disassembled. A task definitely best left to experienced gunsmiths.
I have disassembled mine. Watch out for flying springs and parts, and there are some tedious parts to reassemble.

Either way, 99 or 60, it's got the old model feed throat.
The difference between a 60 & a 99? The micro-groove barrel60 got it, most 99's didn't.
