Well, I received extractors from Dick Williams in Michigan, who I believe sells old stock Marlin factory parts. Wisners in Washington state that is a manufacturer of obsolete parts. I took some pictures as a comparison for us all. Minor differences in the Newly manufactured Wisners extractor with the most obvious being the Pre-load bend and lack of machine marks/ more refined finish.
From top to bottom in all photographs Wisners new manufacture reproduction $22, Williams Old stock Marlin factory extractor $16, and on the bottom the extractor out of my '59 Golden 39a.
When my '76 returns from the shop, I'll put the Wisners in and see how it works and get back to you all.

What did each cost?
Stubbfarmer, I just edited the above post for pricing. Of course you can add 20% for shipping and handling unless you order more stuff.

Well, other than the fact that my super cheezy bent paperclip extractor works 100% of the time...
That sure does look like a better extractor.
Now we need somebody to take the cheap new style extractor out of their rifle and see if these will in fact fit properly in a new 39AS.
I'm betting this will fix all those rifles that don't extract if it does.

I had an old style Marlin on hand. I put it in my 1897 Texan (the same as a 39AS) and it worked fine.![]()

Keep the data coming this is what we need and Marlin is not providing. Now I would like to hear from someone who has the failure to extract problem and install one of these in place of the "Cheesy bent paperclip" I've been trying to get a poll done to see if I can get WWG one of our industry partners to make them. So far almost 900 read the poll but way fewer voted.
Problem I see with Williams is they will run out if that is old Marlin stock. If Wisners makes em, then good problem solved.

I got my "76 39A back from the gunsmith (needed a little trimming in one spot), added a few fresh parts here and there, then tapped out the old "cheezy paper clip spring", clamped the bolt in the vice and tapped the Wisners pre-loaded ejector into the bolt. It was snug but fit well. I ran a couple magazines full through and all fed and ejected with out a hitch. It looks like it will work fine but I'll be testing it over the next few weeks for reliability.

I put several hundred rounds through the '76 M39A with the Wisners extractor today without a single malfunction. Certainly not the end all study, but it works flawlessly so far.

James installed the Wisners extractor I got from you and it worked flawless, like you said it took a little to get it in place but managed in my garage.
Ran three mag tubes full through it, one rapid fire, the rest normal rate.
I do highly recommend this as a fix to the failure to extract problem so many are expieriencing. I do have four of them useless paperclips and will likely never use any of them.
James once more, thank you. Ed

Swany, Glad it was the fix for you, and it was a pleasure doing a deal with you too. Just lay off the envelope sticky for a while... Did the end of your lever cycle seem to stiffen up with the new extractor? Just curious, I have shot mine a bunch this week and everything seems to be smoothing out.
