Can anyone give me a rough history timeline on the model 80. I've got on without serial number, is not grooved for scope mounts.
Model 80 1934-1939
Model 80E 1934-1940
Model 80C 1940-1970
Model 80DL 1940-1965
Model 80G 1960-1965
But- this came out of the Bluebook..... and there is a chance there are some errors or omissions. I have both an80DL and an 81DL- neither has a serial number. I swear one was bought new by my Dad in the 70's. Could be off.
Hope this helps.
I am still clinging to guns and religion.

Some good pics. would help and dose it have a micro-groove barrel.
I have 4 diffrent generations to compare the pic. with
Jer, define "micro grove" barrel.
I'll post some photos this evening
I believe I answered my own questions. Did a little research. My gun does not have a suffex to the model #80. With that i believe it was manufactured prior to 1953, when micro groove barells were manufactured. Does this sound right? Also my receiver does not have the scope mount grooves cut into it. This should make it mfg. prior to the mid 50s.
Yes that is close . it is hard to nail down the dates exactly. I have 3 mod 80 with non micro groove barrels, only one has the scope dove tails cut in it.
Was the Marlin model 80 sold under the name Ranger model 36?
