So my "Go-To" 1,000 yard gun is a 24" HB 308.
With my 175gr. SMK loads, I can hold 12" groups @ 1,000.
So fooling around with my ballistics calc, My XL7 shooting 87gr TNT's at a conservative 3500fps, should get to 1K with about 10min less drop than my 308.
I'm in harvest, so Sunday(for now) is my only day off. Not much time for tweeking, but for something fun to fool with, what are your bets?
22" sporter barrel XL7, 25-06. Boyds stock.
What group size can I get at 1,000??

Did you happen to punch in some numbers for wind deflection on that ballistic calculator?

16.5" 5 shot group. If yer dealing with like power scopes![]()

I envy you to say the least!!!!
Would love to be able to shoot that distance.
With the 87 grain pill my SWAG will be 36".
Let us know how it turns out!!!

.
I will agree with Tom, about a meter.![]()
I didn't because summer here means Inversion city. I shoot at 2 different ranges. One we built has gongs every 100, out to 1,000. The other goes out to 1,200. The 1,200 range will put any wind that may come this time of year, to my back.
My personal prediction is close to "Me's" prediction, I'm thinking 16-18". I'll report Sunday night, or Monday morning how bad I suck![]()

Still got that milkshake/lunch bet on the table, Darkker...
Either way, I'm hoping it and they will shoot for you at that range!
I would recommend 115 -117 gr. boatail @ 3000, very good ballistics and less drift in wind.

So turns out with VERY minimal load work-up, and using "hold-over" on my 3-9 VX-II; My groups are about 18"
