    VihtaVuoro N120 and 444

I have been offered 2lb of N120 which I believe has been discontinued.Max load from VV reloading guide 50.5 gr =2415 fps with 265gr fp sounds good from the same barrel as I have.Any one have experience with this powder and load ?
Ok no response so I went and picked up the N120 today and loaded 3 rounds at max 50.5 gr MUCH more felt recoil and impact at 160yds about 10" higher than the normal load of 47gr AR2207 which is on the button at that range.Primer on right is from VV N120 and shows some cratering around fireing pin.Is this enough to worry about. My gut feeling is to drop the charge just a tad. Some Marlin 444 loading experince would be appreciated.WLR primers used.
    Thanks John

    Hi,

I loaded up to 48 grains before I reached the same case expansion as remington 240 grain factory ammo. But I still think it is a slightly hot load, so I'm considering to reduce the load to 47 grain, just to be on the safe side.

Don't ask me how VV came up with those loads. Both max loads with n120 and n130 will cause the bullet tip to get flattened under loading, cause they're so compressed. So the trajectory gain in high velocity will be reduced in lower BC.
