Hodgdon has recalled a lot of H 4227 powdwer. It seems some of this batch contains H 4198.

That was in 2003 (April 11, 2003) and should not be a problem any more.

I don't think there're dated like food, but the lot #'s on the botom of the canisters are kept in the manufacturers data base, and the "born on dates" are in that data.
PS: if you get into reloading, read as much stuff as possible from Lyman, Nosler, and Lee reloading manuals. It's a great way to unwind.
