Anybody have a pet load for either of these calibers? Had a buddy gift me a box of Berry's 158gr plated round nose bullets and am in need of some loads. Theses will be for several different length revolvers.
What type of powders do you have? My favorite plinking load is with a 158gr bullet and 5.1gr of Win 231. Works well for target shooting out of my Marlin 1894C.
I have used 4-5 grs of Trailboss for 38 SPL hardcast loads depending on the weight of the bullet. I use 12grs of A2400 for 158 gr jacketed 357 Mag revolver loads. My 1894C 357 Mag likes 14.7 grs of A2400 for 158 gr jacketed loads.
Bullseye and the .38 Spcl go together like biscuits and gravy; my load is 3 gr of B.E. under a cast 158 gr SWC .
For the 357 I use 11.3 gr AA # 9 under a 180 gr cast. However, 2400 is a damned good powder for the 357 as well.
