    38-55 imr 3031 powder

    has anyone loaded 38-55 using imr 3031? if so what where your impressions/results? using 260grn lead flat nose. thanks

    So far it has been about the most accurate for me in 32-40. Gives good velocity too. It has worked well with jacketed and the cast with gas checks. Haven't tried it with plain base. The two cartridges are similar.

    It is all I use in the 38-55 using a 280gr cast bullet. 1 1/2" three shot groups at 100 yards with regularity.

    Hey there HR67 -- I've looked at it several times and keep going back to Unique. More often than not, it's recommended for jacketed bullets. It also takes about three times as much to accomplish what a Unique load does well. Here is what the Lyman folks had to say in their #44 manual.

    It's worked for me from 50 to 1,000 yards.
