    Question Leupold?

    are leupold scopes as good as they used to be, say 20yrs back? i haven't bought any scopes in years and was a big leupold fan. i will have to say that the last 3 i've bought, 3x9 efr, 2x7 rimfire, 4x rimfire, weren't that good opitcally. i recently ended up with a ruger #1 in .257 roberts and need some glass for it. so whats up with leupold now-a-days? thanks for any replies, lew.

    In My opinion they are. I realy don't know much about scopes so I alway buy Leupold. They still have great coustomer service.

    They are pretty hard to beat. I believe they have improved over the years.

    I would say they are better. Tighter seals, more precise adjustments and better glass and coatings. They ate the benchmark.

    Unless you go with something like Swarovski or Ziess I don't know how you could do much better--------plus a lifetime guarantee.

    With optics great strides in lens coatings and better polishing of the special glass has advanced greatly.

    Your 20 year old leopold or redfield was good glass in its time but lots of the non-leopold brands exceed that quality now in coating alone.

    I have many leopolds old M8's to FXII's and my scout is theirs. There is a new company I have been looking at called Vortex. Seem good and the one I was looking at is a first focal plane scope.

    If you buy one be sure to post your opinions of it here--we're always looking for better glass and some savings where warranted.

    vortex makes fine scopes and spottin scopes. plus a bullet proof, no restrictions, lifetime warranty
