    Scope advice

    Hey there,

I have my 45-70 at Wild West Guns for work and I wanted to get a scope, What is the best scope for said 45-70? I want it for 100 to 200 yard shots.. maybe more
IS the Leupold 1.75-6X32 a good scope and will it stand up to the power of the 45-70 with say Garrets or Buffalo Bore loads?

Best would be a 30mm tube. I think the VXIII 1-5 20mm is nice. I'd say the scope you picked is nice too.
    I know of a FXII 4x on a .450 with no problems.

It may or may not be the "best" scope for 200+ yd shooting, but you'll have no problems with the Leupold holding up to heavy recoil. The 1.75-6 I have on my 6.5 lb .350 Rem Mag has withstood hundreds of rounds with loads developing over 3600 fpe.

If anything ever does fail, the famous Leupold lifetime warranty will cover it.

I like Jake's recommendation for a 30mm tube and would suggest a scope similar to one of these. They are from the older Leupold Euro 30mm series, which is no longer made. The newer VX-R looks to me to simply be an updated version though, carrying the same models. The straight tube is a 1.25-4x20 and the larger scope is a 2-7x33, both 30mm tubes.

I think your scope choice is a very fine on.

    Doc,

The VX-3 1.75-6x32mm is a very robust scope. I have one on my 1895 Guide and she holds zero.
Get it and don't look back.
