picked this scope up the other day it is a 3x9 by 40 kassnar with a steel tube and the optics are crystal clear says made in japan thinking about putting on one of the 30/30s doe;s anyone have or had any experience with one its clearer than a bushnell 3200 that i have.
I think late 1970's-mid 1980's, but I'm not sure. If the glass is clear, mount it on something and sight it in. Bump it, jiggle it, ride it in the truck all summer. Then check your zero again before hunting season. That's a good test of a scope, in my opinion.

My father has one on his 30-06 (a German Mauser sporterized in the late 70's). Holds zero very well, very clear still. Only negative is it can't compete with light gathering of modern glass.
That old, they can be prone to fogging up too in temp extremes.

Had a savage 340 in 222 with a 4 power wide angle kassnar scope on it. Worked well probably about 1970 area scope. Bought the rifle in 1979 and it was still on it when I traded it off this spring so it lasted at least 30 years.
thank you guys for shedding some lite on this i will try it on one of the 30/30s and see if it holds up i think it may because the recoil on a06 is a wee bit heavier but then again time will tell thanks again dch.
