What is the concensus on the Weaver V series of scopes as compared to other manufacturers' variable power scopes with about 16X on the top end? Anybody have any particular problems with them? Any opinions about them since Meade took over Weaver?
Some profess that they "aim to please". On the contrary, it pleases me to aim.
I think they are a pretty good value for the dollar, I have a couple.

I have V-16 on a Weatherby 243. When I first got it, it was bad right out of box, in that it would not hold elevation or windage. Packed it up, with a note saying what it's doing, and sent it back to factory. 2 weeks later, I have the scope back with a note from factory saying what repairs done to it, and I'm very pleased with results. I wouldn't hesitate buying another V-16 or any other Weaver scope. I think they're now repaired by ATI in Wisconsin if my memory is correct.

Thanks, fellers. My first scope many decades ago was a K-4. It is not currently being used but appears as bright and clear as when new. I'm considering a V16 but haven't been able to get my hands on one in a store yet. May just go the catalog route.

ATK bought Weaver in the last year or two. They will probably have better service than Meade. ATK is the parent company that owns Federal, CCI and quite a few other shooting products.
