Yes, but the rail didn't come with mine. H&R will send it if you ask or get a Weaver #82.
This rifle is probably the best candidate for a Weaver V3
Not unlike totin a 35 rem. The Handi-Rifle gives a special feel to life. Sorta primal/supreme with a modern cartridge. Like you are so sure of your first shot, you'll give the animal a pardon if you miss.
Good analogy, Jake. I'm considering one in 44mag for a handy truck gun or something light to carry when going for a long hike. I don't like the idea of leaving my $500 336BL in the truck all the time.
I'm hip to not leaving the expensive stuff in the truck. They are making this version in 44mag and 45/70. I'm not going to call it light. When you grab it based on the size you are shocked how stout it is.
I think the 357 must use the same barrel blank as the 45/70 so the 44 mag should be a bit lighter.

It is, and the 45-70 is lighter still. Thinkin of cutting my 45-70 to 18" for a truck gun. DP

I like it. I have wanted a 357 barrel to put on my H&R in 223 but gave up when I found out they don't come with open sights anymore. I signed up for the stock watch and when they get more in I will get it ordered. Thats a really neat rifle. My 357 Marlin is my favorite rifle. This should be just as much fun and I won't forget and lever away my brass.
I installed the WGRS Ghost ring ap this morning replacing the WGRS buckhorn. I've been shooting it most of the day. Is absolutely wicked now.

I just ordered one from RR Arms. Cost right at $250 with shipping. I will have it in about 7 days. I can't wait. This is the closest thing I have found to a Rook & Rabbit rifle yet. I have been fasinated with those type of guns for years.
Jake what kind of buttpad is that? I don't like the big thick pad either. I may order the synthetic stocks for mine.Added a black linen micarta buttplate instead of recoil pad, see updated pic above. The factory recoil pad was 1 1/2" thick and made the rifle look like hell.
Also does your gun have ballard type rifling or a micro-groove style?

They need one in stainless chambered in .45 colt/.410.

This is a perfect rifle now for me. I'd love to see a stainless version but I don't see it happening. I could see a market for H&R creating a "high priest" version in say 30.06 for that "real", "one gun" hunter.
I'd love a stainless desert eagle in 357 mag too but I have to settle with blue since I don't like nickel.
My neighbor made my buttplate out of black linen micarta to look like buffalo horn. It would've been horn but its hard to find a piece that big.
Mine is ballard rifling.

ALL H&R barrels are button rifled, Marlin makes them for H&R, has since late 2006, H&R will have their own barrel plant in Ilion later this year, hopefully the Marlin New Haven plant closure won't effect H&R barrel production before the new barrel operation commences.
