    Question H&R Buffalo Classic quality..??

So what's the conscensus on the newer Buffalo Classics? ..or the H&R's in general? I have read about, and seen some real junk come from from marlin since the Remington take over.. but what of H&R??

I have the chance to pick up a Buffalo Classic, new in box, with only a few pics to judge.. i have heard sooooo many good things of the Bufflo rifles, but terrible things about the 'new' Marlin. Are the Buffalos still a safe bet?

This one has the CBA- serial number prefix.

    Thanks!!!

I picked up a survivor in 45 colt/410 and it was a pain in the butt to break open. I didn't own it for more than 8 hours before I sold it. I saw the REP stamp and it had to go! I would hold out and find a real H&R, just my opinion.

my rep was a wreck when i got it, if i hadnt been a tinkerer by nature it would have had to go back. (new in box). i stayed with it and now it is my fav gun, and i have 40 or 50 to choose from. i filed a flat spot on the wood behind the receiver and mounted a tang sight. it is very accurate with all my bullet molds

I tried to go to H & R rifles for my main hunting guns based upon the success I had had with some older guns I had purchased. After burning up several hundred dollars in ammo trying to cope with several bad barrels and poor quality control I gave up. That is my experience. I have three built before the "change" and really like them. I just cannot afford another buget priced gun.
Prince Albert said it better than most - "The proof is in the puffin".

Freedom : Monday morning, just my airboat, 50 gallons of aviation fuel and a good machette. Left the truck 30 mile back. No telephones, no radio. Be home on Friday God willing.

I have 14 Handis, old Toppers thru new CBAs. I haven't had a lick of trouble with them. They're all shooters. The .45-70s, 22 inch and the 32 BC, are probably the most accurate and reliable of all Handis. If you need some reassurance, look here. There's lots of info on the Buffalo Classic.
