An earlier post had it put together and going to the range. She IS a shooter. Got her back from the finisher for manganese phosphate to Mil-Spec, and WOW! What a difference. This is going to be a keeper for sure. Mini 14 front sight, M16 early three prong, Williams Fool Proof, a RamLine stock, and ONLY 6 1/2 pounds empty!
Side story: I was an engineer on a ship and I brought the barreled receiver on board as a project. (we don't scrimshaw whale's teeth anymore) I was cutting the lightening tapers on the barrel and was making my final passes when the lathe's motor blew out. UGH! Taking it out of the lathe would make resetting it up way more difficult. I had the assistant engineer take a heavy duty electric drill with a large drill bit, wrap it with a Scotch Brite pad and jam it into the hole on the tail stock of the lathe. It worked! and I was able to finish the job in a couple of passes!
I've a 98 year old new gun!
