I’m wavering. I can’t seem to get a Marlin XS7 since Remington stopped letting high volume places sell them. The small guys don’t carry them around here I presume because there is not enough profit for them so basically no one carries them.
I’m considering getting a Savage Edge instead. Does anyone know how the two compare?

Personally, I don't like the looks of the Edge. It looks messed up. The accuracy wasn't anything to write home about either.
If your local shop doesn't carry the Marlin, tell them to order you one. It's not complicated, and that is SOP in most gun shops.
I don't drink or smoke, I spend my money on gunpowder and gasoline.
I thought I wanted an Edge too, but I kept reading about the stiff trigger that couldn't be adjusted and the flex in the fore end of the stock. I couldn't find one anywhere near me so I didn't get to play with one.
I ended up buying an XL7 .270 for me and an XS7 7mm-08 for my son. Very glad I bought the Marlins. Shot them both this weekend for the first time and was impressed.
i got a pair of 111F savages and my xl7 came to me at about 2 hundred dollars less and and am every bit as happy with my xl7 as my 111Fs if not more. the 111 is more rifle than the edge as well so to me, the xl7 is a better rifle. a fellow i know who didnt follow his first instinct to get the marlin and got the edge was never happy with his descision. neither of us think the edge holds its own to the marlin. the big money $.02 opinion!

America was founded by tough hell raisers, rugged American citizens who evaded taxes, spoke strongly against tyranny, grew tobacco, brewed beer and moonshine, and smuggled weapons; it will be saved only by those who do the same today.
