Hello, new to the forum but have searched on obtaining a youth stock for an XL7 .270. Won one in a raffle and would really like to fit it to my 11-yr old. The composite stock is hollow so cutting it down an inch or so doesn't seem to be an option. I've searched (Google) for an aftermarket youth stock for this model and called Marlin, too, to no avail. Anybody know of a source for a stock that would fit a small kid for the XL7?
I recently cut down a synthetic stock on a mossberg, I just made sure I kept enough of the area where you screw in the recoil pad to hold the pad in place. If you have to cut off too much to keep the screw holes in the stock, you can always cut and sand a block of wood (maybe 2inches thick?) to just fit into the stock and epoxy it in place. Then you can screw the pad into place using the wood to hold it. Then sand down the pad to fit the new stock dimensions.
That sounds like it would definitely work, thanks; though, I'd much prefer to keep the original stock as-is for when he gets a little older.
