    Hey 66RDSTER,

We have too many good dealers around here for you not to be able to find something in your range. Silver Dollar in Ramseur usually has some real Marlins in stock. Fuquay Guns and Sovereign Guns are only 3 blocks apart in Fuquay. There are usually a dozen Marlins on hand in those two stores at any given time. PDHSC (Garner) sometimes gets some and just a few months back they had a matching set of limited 1895 's with ported barrels that had been sitting in the shop so long they finally put them on Gunbroker - If I remember correctly they sold for $1100 for the pair.
If I see anything during my LGS roamings I will let you know -

    Hey Golfbuddy45,
Yeah, I got it locally, not Perry's though.
Actually I go to Perry's quite a bit, they're only 6-7 miles from me. I'm sure they would have made good on it too.
I'm gonna try to make the gun show in Raleigh this weekend. Don't have the $$ for anything until I get my refund, but its always fun to look around.

    Hi BG4570,
Thanks for keep'in a look out for some deals. I've been do'in some search'in myself. I've figured out how to get better search results and have been coming up with more results. I actually found a couple on GB that fit the criteria nicely. Things are definitely looking up.

I'll have to take a ride to Ramseur and check out Silver Dollar, never been there. Haven't been to Fuquay in a while either. I did find a nice 1895GS at Fuquay Gun a while back but at the time my budget was quite a bit less so I couldn't get it. Once I got enough dough saved up I decided to just go ahead and order a new one. If I'd only known of these problems ahead of time. Once I get my refund I'm going to have to start hitting all the shops again. Thanks for keeping your eyes open. If you see something, give me a shout.

I suspect this is the story behind this pitiful example,
they were probably hoping the new owner of this "new" gun wouldn't notice,,,,,,
Send it back ask for your coin back and make them pay shipping ect,,,
Tell them "nicely : that they have lost another valued customer due to a total lack of QC.
    I feel for you,,,,,
    thats NOT acceptable ,
I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round, i really love to watch em roll, j.w.lennon.

Going to the C&E GUN SHOW at the Raleigh NC State Fair grounds today - we shall see if there is anything worth the money out there.

Yep, so would I. There's too many things wrong with that rifle........get a refund and go buy a Marlin made by the fine folks in North Haven.

As boardlurker stated, I also did some research to see if Cerberus Capital Management a.k.a. (The Freedom Group) had any ties to the aforementioned acquisitions, didn't find anything concrete on it, but it made for scandalous chit chat.
Still make's me ill the product some of these companies are churning out!
