    Being Original

This is the rant forum so I'm gonna rant. The problem with the gun industry, car industry, young folks, etc. is that there is no originality left. Everybody's making Glock-like guns. Everybody's making cheap-to-make but expensive auto shotguns with some trendy style that everybody's the same of. Car companies have all got their version of what they are all spoon-feeding to the public. I've recently been in and through Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisana, and Texas and for the most part, all of the young folks think they have to dress just like some latest mall-driven trend across the country to look like some trash rapper. There has also been a trend to negative-minded about everything. If negative is all folks focus, that's all that will be in their lives. We have got to get back to being more original in what we make and how we live our lives. I hope that the Freedom Group does and will continue to see that about Marlin. It is the one unique brand in their ownership. No one does it like Marlin. 336, 1894, 1895, 39, all are the real deal.

Take a closer look. It's true we all have the same "stuff" but there are ranges of mods everyone does. From personal liscence plates to stickers, stripes and custom paint everyone is modifying their cars. Kids stain, cut and "ink" their jeans, gun guys mod lever actions with aftermarket sights, custom leather gear and hand made pistol grip caps. Sure there is a ton of stock "stuff" but there is also a lot of really cool home made mods and one off gear.

My own guns are modded to suit me. I buy them stock and modify them to make me happy. Sure I have ruined a few guns over the years but it's worth it to have he experience and have a job well done.

Just be who you are. Don't be the cow in the cattle stall. Going because the cow in front and the cow in the back are going too. Walk your own path. Build guns that nobody else builds. The Freedom Group owns two AR-15 companies. Everyone builds them nowadays. They own Remington. A bunch of folks are doing push feed bolt action rifles and stamped out auto-loading shotguns. Marlin is the rare jewel in their line up. Keep it that way. Don't run it into the ground. Preserve it and protect it but let everybody share it. There are new shooters out there that, for the first time, are being introduced to Marlins. That needs to continue to happen. And the newbys need to experience the kind of quality that we have experienced and fell in love with. Quit trying to fit the company and gun into some kind of company mold.

This is so true.. As we march headlong into the 21st century with landfills bulging from all these gimmick loaded and fake stylized throw away products, there is going to be a reckoning, and a longing for a return of real quality products that stand the test of time and not meant to be tossed out for the next latest and greatest thing to hit the streets. Guns like those being made by Marlin up till the buyout that were made with quality and craftsmanship to last for generations will become more in demand as the markets continue to be flooded with guns with multi color stocks and various plastic parts. Cerberus bungled a chance to preserve a great American icon for another 100 years by reducing them to junk.
